So who believes R&B and Soul Music is dead? Well I, for one, certainly don't!! The truth and reality (in my humble opinion) is that the powers that be, i.e., Mass Media, Clear Channel Radio, video outlets, etc... and the music buying public (pre-teens, teens and young adults) aren't as interested in that genre of music as they are in Rap Music. Lets face it; the mass media in general and Clear Channel Radio are interested in making big bucks!! I don't blame them. Everybody wants to make money. Pre-teens, teens and young adults are the main consumers of music these days, just as all of us "Baby Boomers" were once upon a time. So what's the deal?
Record companies want to reach the people who are going to buy their products. Thus, they employ those that make the music that the music buying public wants to hear. At this day and age, Rap Music is all the rage... So why Rap?
Well, let's look at the differences between R&B and Soul Acts as compared to Rap Acts... Take a soul act such as Earth Wind & Fire or Cameo. Write Comment (28 comments) |

Basketball Anyone? This year's Fresh Coast Classic games were outstanding. They were more exciting than getting to throw a nine iron through the back window of your cheating spouse's car. Several games came down to the final seconds which provided the crowd with enough suspense that had the crowd been larger, it would have looked like a European soccer frenzy; more about the crowd later. We all recently learned how important seconds can be. They can be the difference of escaping and driving down the street or hitting a fire hydrant and then a tree. "Ouch." This year Clark Atlanta University upstaged defending champion, Elizabeth City University, in the championship game 58-56. Elizabeth City did not go quietly into the night as they lead most of the game. However they could not put away Clark Atlanta with any finality; it costs them in the end.

Yes, and it is very easy to do. The formatting of the Home Page -- the
number of columns, the number of articles, etc. -- is controlled by the
Parameters tab found on the Main Menu Item "Home". GoTo:
MENU>MAINMENU and select HOME. In the right column you will see the
Parameters... |
