The League of Martin would like to extend an invitation for you to attend our 21st Annual Holiday Social
where we will be celebrating our 35th Anniversary. This year’s theme is “35 years of Service to the Community”. This event is on Saturday December 19, 2009 at the Radisson Hotel, 7065 N. Port Washington Road, Glendale, Wisconsin.
The LOM has continued to implement community initiatives that address issues which impact the quality of life in Milwaukee.
Past and present initiatives include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Challenged and successfully changed the hiring practices within the Milwaukee Police
Department.
- Served an instrumental role in changing the Milwaukee Police Department's Promotional and Assignment practices.
- Developed and implemented youth program such as Child Safety/Identification Program, Youth Summer Enrichment Academy
- Developed and facilitated Domestic Violence Awareness Workshops.
- Served as Grounds Monitors for African World Festival.
- Provided assistance to various non-profit organizations, including the Girl Scouts of Milwaukee Cookie Drive.
- Implemented the Target and Tiger Woods Foundation “Start Something” Program designed to foster youth leadership and increased self-esteem.
Traditionally and currently, the purpose of the Holiday Social is to raise funds to support the LOM's programmatic efforts in its continued quest to help facilitate positive change in Milwaukee. National evaluations have proven that programs such as those implemented by the LOM help foster positive community assets including teamwork, leadership, self-reliance, respect, and increased community awareness. This year the Holiday Social's focus will also be to help members of the department and community. This year; a portion of the proceeds raised will go to assist needy families in the Milwaukee community during the holiday season. We will also be taking donations of time to help members who are in danger of going off the payroll due to serious injury or sickness. We also ask that attendees bring a can good or other non perishable food item so that it can be donated to local food pantries.
So this year come on and join us in helping each other and the community by coming to the dance.
Tickets are $30.00 per person and special corporate rates are available for large groups. Ad opportunities for the Program Booklet range from $25 to $100.
The League of Martin is a 501(C) (3) non-profit organization, donations are tax deductible. To purchase tickets and/or for more information, please contact the League of Martin office at (414) 372-8294 or fax (414) 372-8347.
